Bleaching of discoloured teeeth

Discolouration of teeth is classified as
1 Extrinsic discolouration
  2 Intrinsic discolouration EXTRINSIC DISCOLOURATION - It is found on the outer surface of teeth or acquired pellicle and is usually of local origin such as tobacco stains - The origin of the stain may be due to the following substances - 1 Metallic – Occupational exposure to metallic salts or medicines containing metal salts 2 Non Metallic like dietary components,beverages,tobacco,mouth rinces,medicaments,cromatogenic bacteria -Green colour discolouration is seen with the Nasmyths membrane  -Silver nitrate staines are other types of extrinsic stains that are impossible to eliminate without grinding as these stains penetrate the surface of the crowns   INTRINSIC DISCOLOURATION - These are stains within the enamel and dentin caused by the deposition or incorporation of substances within these structures such as tetracycline stains  - Amelogenesis imperfect or dentinogenisis imperfect are intrinsic stains that are impossible to eliminate because they originate from deep developmental defects of the enamel and dentine  - -Stains due to pulp necrosis can usually be removed by bleaching procedures    CAUSES OF TOOTH DISCOLOURATION  -Local causes  Decomposition of pulp tissue  -excessive haemorrhage following pulp removal -trauma -medicaments  -filling material 2 Systemic causes  Conginital porphyria- red or purple discolouration is seen -Hereditary opalescent dentine violaceous discolouration is seen -Endemic fluorosis – mottled brown dicolouration  - Erythroblastosis foetalis- greyish brown discolouration -Jaundice brown discolouration  -Tetracyclines cause yellow to grey or brown discolouration  https://littlepearlsdentalcare.com/little-pearls-dentistry
